Attention Developers: Unleash your Creativity with the Microcone
The Microcone works by dividing the space around it into six virtual sectors, as illustrated in the Monitor panel here. For each of these regions, the Microcone processing software produces a separated audio stream together with speech activity and location information.
Dev-Audio's Microcone Recorder application represents a first example of how this enhanced audio and speech information may be used to provide a simple time-saving interface for recording group meetings.
We believe however that there are many more ways this information may be put to use in innovative group voice applications. In order to encourage creative new uses of the Microcone's core processing features, Dev-Audio will make a Software Development Kit (SDK) available to registered software developers.
The SDK will be available for Mac OS X (10.5 or later). It contains a Framework library that gives developers access to the Microcone's audio, speech activity and location information. This information is accessible on a frame-by-frame basis, making it ideal for real-time operation. As a starting point, the SDK also includes Xcode project files for a demonstration application.
