Enabling developers, researchers and system integrators to build on the Microcone’s unique features, Dev-Audio is pleased to announce the release of the Microcone SDK.
While microphone array technology holds much promise for creative new audio applications, the barriers to achieving this can be significant: in particular the need for a multi-channel microphone platform, and the level of expertise required to implement array processing software.
In an effort to remove these barriers, the Microcone SDK gives developers and researchers these foundational tools:
In addition, clients of the SDK benefit from access to preferential reseller pricing for subsequent hardware units, allowing them to deploy and sell the applications that they develop.
To enquire about purchasing the Microcone SDK, please email sales@dev-audio.com for full information, or complete our registration form specifying your interest in the SDK.
- Microphone Array Hardware. The SDK includes 2 Microcone devices. The Microcone is a small 7-channel USB microphone that functions with system audio USB drivers on Mac OS X, Windows 7 and Linux. The device itself appears as a native multi-channel microphone, without any embedded processing.
- Microphone Array Software Library. The SDK includes the Microcone array processing software as a binary library with a header file. The library exposes the core real-time processing function that accepts a frame of input audio from the device and transforms this into: 6 directional audio streams, a mono or a stereo surrround sound mixture of the directional audio streams, and voice activity and localisation information for speakers in each of the 6 regions.
- Source Code for a Demonstration Application. Full source code and project files (Xcode, Visual Studio) for a demonstration application on Mac OS X and Windows 7 (a Linux project may be produced depending upon demand). This demonstration application shows how to use the Microcone library and stream the audio output to disk or to another audio output device.
In addition, clients of the SDK benefit from access to preferential reseller pricing for subsequent hardware units, allowing them to deploy and sell the applications that they develop.
