Company Overview

Dev-Audio produces software and peripheral devices that apply innovative computer speech technologies to enable more natural interaction between people and computers. Our aim is to make computers more natural tools for collaboration and communication, and therefore a focus is on technologies that support groups of users, rather than individuals.

Founded by Dr Iain McCowan in 2008, Dev-Audio Pty Ltd is a privately held company based on Australia's Gold Coast. Following 2 years of development and in-field trials, our first product is scheduled for release in September 2010. The Microcone is an intelligent microphone designed for small group conversations, built upon our intellectual property in the fields of microphone array and speech signal processing. An associated software application, Microcone Recorder, is designed to simplify the process of recording meetings.

Dev-Audio appreciates the support it has received from various government initiatives, including AusIndustry's COMET program and the Queensland Government's Smart Futures Fund. The Ark foundation in Valais Switzerland has also supported collaboration with the IDIAP Research Institute and HES-SO Valais.

Dev-Audio benefits from the support of Telstra, through their External Research and Development Program.
